Abstract:
This dataset is a line coverage representing the centerlines of railroads in the rural areas of Laramie County. |

Metadata elements shown with blue text are defined in the Federal Geographic Data Committee's (FGDC) Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM). Elements shown with green text are defined in the ESRI Profile of the CSDGM. Elements shown with a green asterisk (*) will be automatically updated by ArcCatalog. ArcCatalog adds hints indicating which FGDC elements are mandatory; these are shown with gray text.
This dataset is a line coverage representing the centerlines of railroads in the rural areas of Laramie County.
This dataset is intended to represent railroad centerlines for general display.

Railroad centerline alignments were originally entered by using scanned USGS quads
Railroad centerlines are verified by land survey performed on a project basis or as needed. Tests for logical consistency are performed using vendor software. Arc topology for this dataset is verified prior to distribution, and continuously throughout the maintenance process.
Dataset includes railroad centerlines in the area outside the zoned area, an approximate 5 mile radius around the City of Cheyenne.
USGS quads were used as primary source for identifying major railroad centerline alignments. Scanned images were used for heads-up digitizing.

Aerial photography was used as secondary source for verifying railroad centerlines.
