IT IS USED TO VERIFY WHERE PLATTED RIGHT OF WAYS THAT HAVE NO STREET BUILT IN THEM STILL HAVE A PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY RESERVED FOR IT.

THE CITY ENGINEER'S OFFICE WILL RECEIVE A FILED COPY OF THE RESOLUTION OR ORDINANCE AND IN MOST CASES A MAP SHOWING THE RIGHT OF WAY VACATION. AT THAT TIME THE ENGINEERING STAFF WILL DIGITIZE THE AREA OF VACATION IN TO THE VACATION COVERAGE. THIS IS A POLYGON BASED COVERAGE SHOWING ONLY THAT PART BEING VACATED. THIS USUALLY CONSISTS OF ALLEYS AND OR STREETS. A LABEL IN THEN ADDED TO THE POLYGON AND ATTACHED TO THE LABEL OR THE FOLLOWING ATTRIBUTES: RESOLUTION OR ORDINANCE NUMBER, YEAR OF VACATION, WAS THERE AN ACCOMPANYING MAP?,  AND PATH AND NAME OF SCANNED IMAGE OF ACCOMPANYING MAPS. IF THERE IS NO MAP, HEADS UP DIGITIZING IS DONE BY SNAPPING TO A BACK COVERAGE OF THE PLATTED SUBDIVISIONS.
